The transformation of the old industrial area Verket in Moss provides space for a new, attractive district at the crossroads between city and nature. The area is bounded by blue-green landscapes with the river and strait in the south and the wooded hills in the north that naturally frame the former factory. Our main approach is based on these two directions, by forming a north-going city axis with varied urban spaces, and several blue-green connections across, where nature is drawn into the area.
The urban axis connects the new urban spaces at Verket with important urban and cultural attractions in Moss. Various urban spaces are created that open for activity. Central to the axis is a new square - Fonteneplassen
- which is framed by historic and new buildings. Active facades help to create a vibrant and safe urban space with activities at different times of the day. Between the buildings, well-defined outdoor spaces are created with good sun conditions. Fonteneplassen is the heart of the plan, which at the same time becomes a hub between the urban and the blue-green qualities.
